    Determinants of behavioral intention to use tax e-lejar service among salaried group of taxpayer in Kuala Lumpur

    This study is an attempt to investigate taxpayer’s perception and intention to use Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia’s online service known as tax e-LEJAR. Tax e-LEJAR is an online system where taxpayers can check their tax transaction records via internet. The data are collected from a sample of 198 individual salaried group of taxpayers from IRBM, Kuala Lumpur Bandar Branch using a structured questionnnaire. Analysis of data was using multiple regression. Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) is used for this study in determining taxpayers’ acceptance of tax e-LEJAR service. This study revealed that overall perception towards this system is positive with perceived usefulness is the most significant determinant of the behavioural intention to use tax e-LEJAR service. Perceived ease of use although not directly influenced behavioural intention to use but it is the most significant variable that influenced taxpayer’s attitude towards usage of tax e-LEJAR. The effect of perceived ease of use is also significant in perceived usefulness of tax e-LEJAR

    CloudIDS: Cloud Intrusion Detection Model Inspired by Dendritic Cell Mechanism

    Cloud Computing Security is a new era of computer technology and opens a new research area and creates a lot of opportunity of exploration. One of the new implementation in Cloud is Intrusion Detection System (IDS).There are problems with existing IDS approach in Cloud environment. Implementing traditional IDS need a lot of self-maintenance and did not scale with the customer security requirements. In addition, maintenance of traditional IDS in Cloud Computing system requires expertise and consumes more time where not each Cloud user has. A decentralized traditional IDS approach where being deployed in current Cloud Computing infrastructure will make the IDS management become complicated. Each user's IDS will not be the same in term of type and configurations and each user may have outdated signatures. Inter VM's communication also become a big concern when we implementing Cloud Computing system where communication between Clouds are not monitored and controlled by the traditional IDS. A specific IDS model for Cloud computing is required to solve these problems. In this paper, we develop a prototype of Cloud IDS inspired by Dendritic Cell mechanism. Experiment result proved that Cloud IDS was able to detect any attempt to attack the Cloud environment. The experiments show that the Cloud IDS model based on Dendritic Cell algorithm able to identify and detect novel threat that targeting Cloud environment

    Academics as decision makers: what style do they adopt?

    Many studies have focused on the decision-making styles (DMS) of managers, but very few have studied the DMS among academicians. Using the Rowe Decision Style Inventory, this study investigates the DMS of the academics in a public university in Malaysia. The objectives are to identify the common styles adopted by the academics and to determine their dominant styles in relation to their gender, age, faculty, qualifications, and years of service. This study employed a quantitative-questionnaire design that was distributed to 163 academics during an in-house training program. Four types of DMS—directive, analytical, conceptual, and behavioural styles—were identified with regard to gender, age, faculty, qualifications, and years of service. The results revealed that while the majority of the respondents have more than one dominant DMS, the conceptual and analytical styles predominate. Additionally, empirical evidence of variations in the types of DMS across demographic characteristics was found.     Determining Foot-Ankle Mechanism Design by Mapping the Relationships Among Bones, Joints, and Ground Reaction Force

    This work investigates the following questions—why the bones and the joints are arranged in that way, why it is different from other primates, and how could it be imitated to develop a foot-ankle mechanism. Mathematical models were developed and were based on the relationship among the anatomy of bones and joints, the normalized ground reaction forces that acted on certain nodes on the footprint. Using the model, a custom design prosthetic foot was assembled. It was tested on a robot arm that simulated a walking gait. The stance phase cycle performed on the prototype, and the commercial feet were completed within approximately 1.08 seconds and 1.38 seconds, respectively. The techniques used, however, may require further studies because the prototype foot was not tested on patients. At this stage, the techniques are sufficient to justify that the prototype foot design should consist of an ankle-foot mechanism and a flexible keel. Therefore, proper mappings of bones and joints; and modeling of foot biomechanics is found useful in design and development of prosthetic feet activities

    Cloud denial of service detection by dendritic cell mechanism

    The term cloud computing is not new anymore in computing technology. This form of computing technology previously considered only as marketing term, but today cloud computing not only provides innovative improvements in resource utilization but it also creates a new opportunities in data protection mechanisms where the advancement of intrusion detection technologies are blooming rapidly. From the perspective of security, cloud computing also introduces concerns about data protection and intrusion detection mechanism especially cloud computing are exposed to Denial of Service (DoS) attacks. This paper aims to provide DoS detection mechanism for cloud computing environment. As a result, we provide an experiment to examine the capability of the proposed system. The result shows that the proposed system was able to detect DoS attacks that conducted during the experiment with 94.4% detection rate. We conclude the paper with a discussion on the results, then we include together with a graphical summary of the experiment's result

    Analysis of Shalat Gait

    This study was done to analyze the pattern of shalat gait in comparison to walking gait. Force plate system records ground reaction forces when reading walking gait. It produces distinct curves that have profiles of an M-liked shape. This curve exhibits the behaviour of walking gait in term of ground reaction force as a function time. Instead of using force plate system, this work used heuristic method of argument by exploiting the advantages found in graph theory and algebraic representations. The ‘M’ profile was succesfully created using the method proposed. The method was then tested on shalat gait through responses from seventeen subjects who participated in the exercise. At the conclusion of the study it was suspected that shalat routine was similar to walking activity

    Investigation of Indoor Thermal Environments in a Two-Story Corner Terrace House in Malaysia

    An effective passive cooling strategy is essential for reducing energy consumption in a residential building without ignoring thermal comfort. Therefore, a field measurement on the thermal performance of a corner terrace house in Kuala Lumpur was conducted to reveal the effectiveness of free running (FR) with four different approaches – no ventilation, full ventilation, day ventilation, and night ventilation. The measurement was done for all bedrooms and family area on the first floor. Also, mixed mode (MM) consisting of natural ventilation, mechanical ventilation with ceiling fan, and cooling with an air-conditioner that represents the actual condition of this house was also measured at living and dining area on the ground floor for comparison. The results reveal that FR from all approaches recorded a mean indoor air temperature of approximately 31 ∘C. The actual thermal condition of the house with MM on the ground floor was recorded at 30 ∘C, 1 ∘C lower than FR approach on the first floor. When compared with relevant international standards on predicting indoor comfort temperature based on outdoor temperature, FR was approximately 5 ∘C higher than predicted temperature based on American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Standard 55 (2017), 3.4 ∘C higher than European Standard EN15251 and 1.5 ∘C higher than adaptive thermal comfort equation (ACE) for hot-humid climate. In comparison, MM performed better and was closer to relevant international standards, especially ACE for the hot-humid climate. As a conclusion, FR is not suitable for a hot-humid climate such as Malaysia to achieve a comfortable indoor thermal environment without any assisted ventilation use in MM

    Approximating the relationship among the degree of the reaction forces and the nodes on footprint during a stance phase

    This study examined the foot biomechanics that are utilized when foot is in contact with the ground during a stance phase. The purpose of the study was to investigate the normalized ground reaction forces that impacted certain sections and points on the footprint, and to identify patterns in the degrees to which these forces occurred. Foot was modeled in such a manner that a vertex represented a bone and an edge represented a joint, and a graph that depicted the foot was created. Twelve nodes were marked on the footprint and these were linked together to create a gait path. By fusing the graph and the gait path and by manipulating the mathematical models, a profile for an ideal bipedal walking locomotion was developed. A male subject performed bipedal walking through a force plate system in order to obtain the profile that reflected actual bipedal walking. The actual and the proposed profiles were compared and there were significant similarities between the two profiles, with both exhibiting an double-bump pattern. It is therefore viable that the approximation techniques proposed in this work may provide an alternative means over the application of a force plate system to generate a profile for bipedal walking. However, the accuracy and reliability of the results yielded from this technique need further investigation
